Parque Patricios

Parque Patricios is a district in the east of the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires. He has nearly 41,000 inhabitants (as of 2001) on an area of ​​3.8 km ². It belongs to the Comuna C4.

Location

Parque Patricios is bordered by the districts of Barracas and Nueva Pompeya in the south, in the east of Constitución, San Cristóbal in the north and in the west Boedo.

Description

The district was named after the eponymous park, which was created by Carlos Thays.

Parque Patricios made ​​at the beginning of the 20th century by a change. The slaughterhouse, who was by then in Parque Patricios, moved to Mataderos, landfills and incinerators were closed and the cemetery, which was created due to the yellow fever epidemic in 1871, was leveled. The latter is now the Parque Ameghino. Instead, more parks, a zoo and hospitals were built.

In Parque Patricios are today several hospitals, where patients are treated from all parts of Argentina. This is also where the notorious former prison " Caseros ", used the rubble as a raw material for sculptures by the artist Seth Wulsin its demolition.

Sports activities include soccer club Club Atlético Huracán, a team of 1st League at the Estadio Tomás Adolfo Duco stadium.

Parque Patricios is mentioned in several tango songs. The best known is the " street corner the farrier " in tango " Sur ". This refers to the corner Inclan Street and Loria Street.
