Villa Soldati

Villa Soldati is a district in the south of the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires. The district has 41,000 inhabitants (as of 2001) on an area of 8.7 km ². He is one with a population density of 4,700 inhabitants per km ² in principle to the less densely populated parts of the city of Buenos Aires. The average population density of Buenos Aires is around 13,500 inhabitants / km ². Together with Villa Lugano Villa Riachuelo and forms the district of the county C8.

Location and character

Villa Soldati is bounded by the streets Avenida 27 de Febrero, Coronel Esteban Bonorino - street, Av. General Francisco Fernández de la Cruz Varela street, Av. Perito Moreno, Castañares Street and Escalada Street.

Villa Soldati is a working-class neighborhood and one of the poorest neighborhoods of Buenos Aires. 40% of its inhabitants live in the Barrio Soldati, a complex of social housing, was built in 1973-1979 and is one of the largest in South America. In Villa Soldati are also five Villa Miserias, making it one of the district along with Villa Lugano to those with most slums of the capital.
