Description

The area that makes up Versalles today, was first owned by Don Pedro Fernandez de Castro, the namesake of the adjacent Monte Castro. At the end of the 18th century it fell heir to Don Juan Pedro de Córdoba. After his death his daughter Mercedes divided it into plots. In the 19th century, the land changed hands several times yet. 1911 bought the railway company " Ferrocarril Oeste de Buenos Aires " the land to expand their railway to the west. At that time, returned to the company doctor of the society, Dr. José Guerrico, back from Paris and suggested to name the new district after the Palace of Versailles near Paris.

Today Versalles has the largest green area per inhabitant (compared to the rest of the city) and is the highest and most quiet part of town. The style of the houses is influenced by the English architecture.
