Francisco Xerez

Francisco Xerez (* 1504 in Seville, † 1547 in Seville) was a Spanish chronicler in the Renaissance.

Life

Francisco Xerez was born in Andalusia, came at a young age to the New World and in 1524 Francisco Pizarro joined in the conquest of Peru. Xerez served during the conquest of the Inca Empire as a soldier and writer ( 1531-33 ). 1534 he returned to Spain. In the same year came in Seville his book out " Verdadera relación de la conquista del Perú ". The work was soon translated into Italian and then in other languages, and did much to spread the myth of the fabulous wealth of the Incas.
