Franciszek Kokot

Franciszek Kokot (* November 24, 1929 in Rosenberg OS) is a Polish physician, nephrologist and endocrinologist. He is considered a pioneer of nephrology in Eastern Europe. He is a full member of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

Franciszek Kokot (now Olesno in Poland) was born in Rosenberg in Upper Silesia. From 1948 to 1953 he studied medicine at the Silesian Medical University of Katowice. From 1975 he was head of the Nephrology Clinic in Zabrze. In 1969 he became a professor at the Silesian Medical Academy in Katowice (Polish Akademia Śląska Medyczna Katowicach w ), and from 1982 to 1984 and its rector.
