François Hesnault

François Hesnault ( born December 30, 1956 in Neuilly -sur -Seine ) is a French former racing driver. He played 19 Formula 1 races, but was unable to reach championship points.

Hesnaults career in professional motor sport began in the French Formula 3 Championship, where he finished third in 1982 and 1983, second place in the overall standings.

After these successes he 1984 to Formula 1 succeeded at the French Ligier team, where he was, however, significantly exceeded by his team mate Andrea de Cesaris. Despite these regular services, he succeeded in the following year to get a driver's seat in the British Brabham team alongside world champion Nelson Piquet. After disappointing performances he was replaced after only four races by Marc Surer. His last world championship race denied Hesnault in the same year the Grand Prix of Germany at the Nürburgring for Renault, where he drove the first driver in a Formula 1 race with an onboard camera, after 1962, a corresponding experiment during training at the same location in an accident had caused. It was also the last time that a team with three riders went to the start. After this race Hesnault suffered a serious accident, after which he retired from active racing.
