François Kinson

François- Josèphe Kinson, Dutch: Franciscus Josephus Kinsoen ( born February 28, 1771 in Bruges, then Austrian Netherlands, now Belgium, † October 18, 1839 same place ) was a Flemish painter.

Life

Kinson came as Franciscus Josephus Kinsoen in Bruges and grew up there. He received in Bruges artistic training and acquired in Ghent and Brussels, some celebrity. Following an exhibition in Paris in 1799, he was a sought-after artist for celebrities and the rich of the first years in Paris in the 19th century. He worked for the court of the Emperor Napoleon, and was succeeded by his brother Jérôme Bonaparte, King of Westphalia, at whose court in Kassel.

After his escape from Kassel in 1813 Kinson returned to Paris, portrayed there among other Russian aristocrats, was until 1830 a popular painter of women and worked at the royal court.

1839 Kinson died in his native city.
