François Nicolas Fririon

François- Nicolas Fririon ( born February 7, 1766 Vandières, Lorraine, † September 25, 1840 ) was a French general of division.

Life

At sixteen Fririon occurred in 1782 in the French army and quickly made a career. At the beginning of the revolution he was already Major and 1796 gave to him the first rank of general.

In the Napoleonic Wars Fririon fought in Switzerland and later moved with its own command to the Army of Italy and Barthelemy Louis Joseph Schérer. After another promotion, he was Chief of Staff of General Jacques Maurice Hatry. As such, he fought among others at Verona (26 March 1799) and Magnano (5 April 1799).

1799 moved Fririon the Rhine army under General Jean -Victor Moreau and was, among other things involved in the Battle of Hohenlinden (3 December 1800).

From 1807 helped Fririon enforce the Napoleonic interests in Spain. He was appointed chief of staff of Marshal André Masséna and was in this capacity at the siege of Almeida involved in July and August 1810. He also fought in the Battle of Buçaco (27 September 1810) and the Battle of Fuentes de Oñoro ( 3 / May 5, 1811 ).
