Frank Dostal

Frank Dostal ( born December 16, 1945 in Flensburg ) is a German songwriter and music producer. It was the end of the 60er/Anfang 70s known as the singer of Rattles and Wonderland. He is Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of GEMA.

Life and work

Frank Dostal was born in Flensburg, but grew up in Hamburg. He left before his graduation the school to become a rock singer. With the band Faces, he won a talent competition. He came to the Rattles and founded in 1968 by Achim Reichel, the band Wonderland. In Wonderland, he sang, but also played bongos, bass and organ. He also wrote to Reichel's compositions, the lyrics for the band's songs. 1971, after the others had left the band, Reichel and Dostal took with studio musicians still an album under the name Wonderland tape. Subsequently supported Dostal Achim Reichel whose project " AR & Machines". The two jointly produced two children boards ( "The great children's party ").

Dostal became self-employed as a copywriter. In the second half of the 70s his texts dominated the charts. He worked for Vader Abraham ( "The Song of the Smurfs " ), Nico Haak ( "Under the Kilt is nothing " ), Dieter Hallervorden and Helga Feddersen ( "You, the tub is full" ), Nana Mouskouri, Mike Kruger, Roberto Blanco or the Goombay Dance Band.

Together with composer Rolf Soja Dostal was also responsible for the success of baccarat. " Yes Sir, I Can Boogie ", " Sorry, I'm a Lady ", " Parlez- vous français " - the texts of the great hits of the Spaniards come from his pen.

Frank Dostal is married to Mary, the former bassist of the Liverpool girl band The Liver Birds, and has two children.
