Frank Froeba

Frank Fröba ( born August 1907 in New Orleans, † 16 February 1981) was an American pianist and band leader of the New Orleans Jazz.

Life

Fröba began his musical career already as a teenager in the bands of Johnny Wiggs and John Tobin. In 1924/25 he played with Johnny De Droit in New York City; then he led in the second half of the Decade own formation in Atlantic City. He also worked in various dance orchestras. Recordings were made in 1930 with Jack Purvis and 1932 with Jack Bland; 1933 to 1935 he worked for Benny Goodman. From 1935 to 1944 he led his own band, with whom he recorded records for Decca Records, among others, with Bunny Berigan, Artie Shapiro, Cozy Cole and Joe Marsala. With three titles, he also reached the Billboard Top 30, with "The Music Goes Round and Round " (1935, # 7), the " Organ Grinder 's Swing " (1936, # 12) and most recently in November 1936 " It All Begins and Ends with You ", which reached # 20.

In the 1930s and 1940s as the house pianist acted in numerous recording sessions by Decca; so he worked with, among others, with recordings of Bob Howard and Lil Armstrong. He moved to Miami in 1955 and performed under the name Frank Froba than entertainment musician.
