Frank Soltis

Frank Gerald Soltis ( born August 29, 1940) is an American computer scientist. He is the IBM freelancers and associate professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Minnesota, USA.

1968 Soltis received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University. His dissertation was entitled " Automatic Allocation of Digital Computer Storage Resources for time-sharing ".

Frank Soltis, sometimes referred to as the "Father of the AS/400 ," had ("High - Level Machine Interface " ) defines the basic concept of a new computer technology with single-stage linear memory ( "Single - Level Address Ability" ) and vertical machine code. In Rochester, this concept has been implemented as IBM System/38 and later refined in the IBM AS/400.

He also led the development of several processors - from the 64 -bit PowerPC / AS processor to today's POWER7.

By 31 December 2008, Dr. Frank Soltis retired from active service at IBM and is dedicated to increasing his professorship and the AS/400 User COMMON club.
