Frank Uhlig

Frank Uhlig ( born December 8, 1955 in Zschopau ) is a former German football player (DDR ).

Frank Uhlig began his career with BSG Motor Zschopau. At sixteen, he went in 1972 to third-rate BSG Fortschritt Krumhermersdorf. Two years later he moved to Oberliga FC Karl -Marx-Stadt, but initially only played in the second team. From the 1976/77 season he was able to establish himself in the league team of the FCK. He played in Karl- Marx-Stadt total of 268 matches and scored 30 goals obligation.

After eight junior internationals Uhlig graduated on May 7, 1980 in the encounter DDR - Soviet Union his only 'A' game for the East German National Team (2-2 ). In the same year he competed in the Olympic Games in 1980 two finals matches in the football Olympic team of the GDR, the greatest success of his football career brought him by winning the silver medal, although he himself was not used in the final. With his teammates, he was awarded in the same year with the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze. Uhlig denied a total of 17 games for the Olympiaelf the GDR and in 1984 he was nominated for the soccer finals tournament of the Olympic Games, but was unable to attend because of the boycott of the Eastern Bloc. In the summer of 1985, Frank Uhlig ended his career.
