František Gellner

František Gellner ( born June 19, 1881 in Mladá Boleslav, † September 13, 1914 missing) was Czech poet, anarchist, novelist, painter and caricaturist.

Life

He attended in his hometown high school and studied since 1901 in Mladá Boleslav, a short time in Vienna and then at the Mining Academy in Pribram, 1905 then painting in Munich and Paris, moved in 1909 to the Academy of Art in Dresden and a year later he again visited Paris. With Stanislav Kostka Neumann he led small anarchist groups.

From 1911 on he lived in Brno, wrote for Lidové noviny (People's Daily ) and took part in political life. After the outbreak of the First World War in 1914 he was drafted and came into force on September 13, 1914 have been lost.

Works

During his studies, he wrote the first poems. His verses are simple, have a recurring rhythm and rhyme. About him he writes critical and cynical, then attempts to moralize themselves. His works are strongly influenced by anarchism. He also worked as a writer for newspapers and magazines, including Moderní revue and Nový kult ( The new cult ). He also wrote short stories, novels and dramas and worked as a translator.
