Franz Fedier

Franz Fedier ( born February 17, 1922 in Erstfeld (Canton Uri), † 18 May, 2005 Bern ) was a German -Swiss painter of abstract painting and radical avant-gardist.

Life

Fedier Franz was born in the urn generic Erstfeld. At age 17, he began a painting apprenticeship in Brugg. Two years ( 1941) later he began to study at the School of Art Lucerne, inter alia, with Max von Moos. In mural orders of painter Heinrich Danioth he could participate as a student and assistant. In 1945, he was a draftsman in an advertising studio in Bern. Studies led him to the Académie Fernand Léger in Paris, where he became acquainted with Alberto Giacometti. In 1959, Franz Fedier participated in documenta 2 in Kassel in the painting department.

Between 1995 and 2005 Fedier had over 15 solo exhibitions and 13 group exhibitions. About the work of Fedier include in addition to numerous paintings on canvas also several murals on public buildings.

Images, style

The pictures of Fedier are abstract color compositions. Fedier never wanted to own I ask to be in the picture. We always focus on the image. The color choice was often marked by coincidences. For Fedier it was not important whether perhaps some other color would have been better, as the observer did not know whether he had chosen the color deliberately or accidentally.

The style of Fedier can be described as expressionist abstraction. A return to figuration, he has seen as a step backwards.
