Franz Hermann Reinhold von Frank

Franz Hermann Reinhold Frank ( born 2 May 1827 in Altenburg, † February 7, 1894 in Erlangen ) was a Lutheran theologian ( dogmatist ) from Germany.

Frank was since 1857 a professor at the University of Erlangen. He came from the revival movement of the 19th century and was an opponent of Albrecht Ritschl. In Erlangen, he coined the experience theological approach, both of Adolf von Harless and Johann Christian Konrad von Hofmann and therefore was considered the dogmatic head of the Erlanger school.
