Franz Hummel

Franz Hummel ( born January 2, 1939 in Altmannsteinstrasse ) is a German composer and pianist.

Life

His mother is Lore Hummel. Already discovered in childhood and supported by Richard Strauss, Eugen Pope and Hans Knappertsbusch studied Franz Hummel piano and composition in Salzburg and Munich, and was initially known as a virtuoso pianist. He gave concerts throughout Europe and played over 60 records with nearly all of the Classical and Romantic repertoire and contemporary music a lot. Since the early seventies, Bumblebee no longer occurs in public as a pianist. Since then he has devoted himself exclusively to composition. Hummel had initially own compositions, as they met with opposition from the criticism listed under a pseudonym.

His operas, symphonies, ballets, concerts and chamber music works are performed by renowned artists and in prestigious concert halls and opera houses in Europe.

Ludwig II - Longing for Paradise

In 2000, the first composed by him musical " Ludwig II - Longing for Paradise " his highly acclaimed world premiere in the specially built Neuschwanstein Musical Theater. By 2003, the operatic musical about the Bavarian fairy tale king was visited by 1.5 million people. In 2001, he broke up with his abstinence as a pianist and gave a concert with the Russian violinist Liana Issakadse and the world famous klezmer clarinetist Giora Feidman at Carnegie Hall in New York. In continuation of the musical about Ludwig II, Hummel wrote a musical about Richard Wagner, whose premiere is scheduled for 2009 in Dresden. Currently he is working with his wife Sandra at a stage work on Anton Bruckner. In November 2008, will be premiered on the eponymous novel Dürrenmatt in Erfurt Opera House his new opera " The Judge and His Hangman ". For the " Cultural Capital Linz 2009 " he writes the opening opera of Napoleon's Minister of Police Joseph Fouché, who had to go into exile in Linz and is considered the inventor of the Surveillance State.
