Giora Feidman
Giora Feidman ( born March 25, 1936 in Buenos Aires ) is a clarinetist and instrumental soloists of klezmer music.
Life
Giora Feidman comes from a family of klezmer musicians whose tradition he continued in the fourth generation. His ancestors were encountered at weddings, bar mitzvahs and other celebrations in the shtetls of Eastern European regions. Feidman parents were Bessarabian Jews who emigrated around 1905 because of the onset of anti-Jewish pogroms to South America. His father was his first teacher. The orchestra of the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires took Giora Feidman at the age of 18. Two years later he went as a bass clarinetist for the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, where he remained for 18 years. In the early 1970s he began his solo career as a klezmer musician and moved to New York. Currently, he is mainly active in Germany, which he feels particularly connected to. 1975 married Feidmann his manager Ora Bat Chaim -.
In 1984 he played with Esther Ofarim a starring role in Peter Zadek's production of Joshua Sobol's play " Ghetto ", which made him famous and his music in Germany.
