Matthias Eisenberg

Matthias Eisenberg ( born January 15, 1956 in Dresden ) is a German organist, harpsichordist and church musician.

Life

Since the age of 9 was Eisenberg organist at various churches and then for five years a member of the Dresden Kreuz Choir. He studied with Wolfgang Schetelich at the Leipzig Academy of Music " Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy ", where he passed his A-exam in 1978 and was already during the study time winner of several international competitions, including the Improvisation Competition in Weimar.

1980 brought Kurt Masur him shortly before completion of the Gewandhaus new building as first organist to Leipzig, where he was harpsichordist Leipzig Bach orchestra at the same time. He also worked in the GDR television musical with in a production about the life of Johann Sebastian Bach. Outside the GDR, he enjoyed successes, as in 1983 at the Bach Festival in Graz and in 1985 at the International Bach Academy in Stuttgart. In 1985 he was Visiting Professorship in Organ at the International Music Seminar in Weimar, he also gave guest courses and master classes, among others, in Stockholm and South America. In Oybin he was artistic director and soloist of a series of concerts in Rötha initiator of a concert series at the two Silbermann organs.

1986 Matthias Eisenberg did not return from a tour of Bach Orchestra in the Federal Republic of Germany back in the GDR back. After church music activities in Bad Homburg and Hanover, he has performed as a freelance organist and harpsichordist and as a partner of chamber ensembles and symphony orchestras in cities in Europe, Asia, North and South America and Australia. In 1999, he went along with the Orchestre National de Lyon on a great tour of Japan. There are numerous radio and CD productions with Eisenberg, such as recordings of the complete Bach organ works in various organs in Lower Saxony or recordings together with Mathias Schmutzler, Joachim Schäfer, Giora Feidman, Harmonic Brass and many others. From 1992 to 2004, Eisenberg church musician at St. Severin in Westerland on Sylt. From November 2004 to June 2013 he was cantor and organist at the sister church composite of Luther, Moritz and St. John's Church in Zwickau residing in the Erzgebirge mountain town of Schneeberg. Since the end of 2012, he lives in Straupitz in the Spreewald.

Awards

Matthias Eisenberg was appointed church music director in 2003. Also in 2003, he was the Minister-President of Schleswig-Holstein Heide Simonis awarded for his outstanding contribution to organ maintenance and the honorary title of Professor.
