Franz Jakob Clemens

Jakob Friedrich Franz Clement ( born October 4, 1815 in Koblenz, † February 24, 1862 in Rome ) was a German philosopher and writer.

Formed in the Jesuit College at Freiburg, he was a lecturer from 1843 in Bonn and from 1856 professor of philosophy at Munster. As a teacher and writer, he pursued the medieval ecclesiastical tendency, the subordination of philosophy at the revelation and the Church's teaching authority to demand, especially in its historically valuable publication " Giordano Bruno and Nicolaus of Cusa " (Bonn 1847), as well as opponents of Gunther and Kuhns he stepped forward.

From May 18 1848 to May 1, 1849, he was Member of Parliament for the constituency of 23 in Rhineland Linnich in the Frankfurt National Assembly.

The founding of the Association Vincenz went on one of his speeches as a suggestion on the first German Catholic 1848 in Mainz forth.
