Franz Koch (cinematographer)

Franz Paul Koch ( born September 1, 1898 in Munich, † April 28, 1959 ) was a German cinematographer.

Life

Cook came in 1913 for the production company of the Munich film pioneer Peter Ostermayr, where he learned his craft as a cameraman in the next few years. In 1920 he made ​​his first film as director of photography at the Emelka. Except for the Emelka and its successor Bavaria Film Koch worked for other Munich Film societies, where he often worked with the local directors and Franz Osten Franz Seitz.

He photographed Ganghoferstrasse adaptations, Dramas and Comedies in large numbers, but was also at the Propaganda Film SA Man fire and Leni Riefenstahl's Triumph of the Will involved. From 1937 to 1941 he was director of photography on all films with Hans Albers as the main character, after which he worked until the war's end, especially with Hans Schweikart.

After the refugee film long the way (1948 ) on Jewish survivors of the Holocaust was a cook in the 1950s, again especially in Ganghoferstrasse adaptations, home movies and comedies behind the camera. He also worked for the newsreel.
