Franz Michelberger

Franz Michel Berger ( born August 28, 1955) is a former German football player.

Career

Clubs

The 1.80 m wide midfielder played in the youth of the FV Fulgenstadt before he in 1974 got a contract at Bayern Munich. On February 22, 1975 began the "adventure " Bundesliga for him. On this day, he came off the bench in the 0-1 away defeat at the 1 FC Cologne in the 80th minute for Franz Roth. For the 1976/77 season he moved to BSV Schwenningen, in the former 2 League South for which he ran aground a total of 24 times. His first goal as a professional he shot on 25 August 1976 - it was the 1-0 lead at SV Darmstadt 98, which, however, at the end still won the game by 6-1 goals.

After three seasons followed at Eintracht Trier - interrupted by a season in the French first division side Stade de Reims - and Kickers Offenbach; with the Kickers, he managed to Bundesliga promotion. In his last season in Germany glückten him six goals in 30 games. His first Bundesliga goal on August 20, 1983 ( 2nd Round ) meant the 1-0 lead at home to Borussia Monchengladbach ( Full 4:3). His last hit he succeeded on 26 May 1984 ( 34th Round ) at SV Waldhof Mannheim to 6-1 Final in the 89th minute - it was only a consolation goal.

After 34 games and scored six goals in the highest and 194 games ( 51 goals) in the second highest German league Michel Berger let 1985 end his footballing career at the first division club FC Wettingen in Switzerland.

National

Michel Berger played 13 games for the DFB youth team, scoring two goals. He made his debut in the national team on 14 September 1973 in Herford in the 1-1 draw against the selection of Finland, in Frechen was defeated 1-0 just two days later - scorer: Franz Michel Berger. His last game he played on April 3, 1974 in Pitesti in a 0-2 defeat against the selection of Romania. From 14 to 19 November, he participated with the youth national team in the tournament at the Prince Albert Cup, the these won in the final against the selection of Belgium 4-1 in a penalty shootout.
