Franz Sales Meyer

Franz Sales Meyer ( born December 9, 1849 in Kenzingen im Breisgau, † November 6, 1927 in Karlsruhe ) was a German professor of ornamentation, author, poet and painter.

Life

Meyer was born in 1849 in the Kenzinger Eisenbahnstraße 8. From 1866 to 1868 he attended the teacher training college in Meersburg, then moved to the Polytechnic in Karlsruhe, where he completed his training in 1871 for commercial teachers. In 1873 he became a teacher at the Grand Ducal School of Applied Arts in Karlsruhe, where he was in 1878 appointed professor.

In 1871, he staged on the occasion of the completion of the German - French war in a much -admired Kenzingen fireworks.

In 1884 he wrote the first Meersburger city guide and produced, among other things, with the support of the Meersburger Improvement Society, Charles Hoff Ackers and Hans Thomas 1907 a memorandum to improve the Meersburger cityscape. Because of its 50-year attachment to the place he received in 1915 the honorary citizenship. Franz Sales Meyer died in 1927 in Karlsruhe.
