Franz Wilhelm Schweigger-Seidel

Franz Wilhelm Schweigger -Seidel ( born October 16, 1795 in White Rock as Franz Wilhelm Seidel, † June 5, 1838 ) was a German physician and chemist.

Seidel, the son of Carl August Gottlieb Seidel, after the death of his father in the fall of 1822 the name Schweigger as a tribute to the murdered in Sicily botanist August Friedrich Schweigger to.

In 1827 he became professor of medicine at the University of Halle. In 1829 he founded in Halle Pharmaceutical Institute, whose director he was.

His son was the physician Franz Schweigger -Seidel (* September 24, 1834 in Halle; † August 23, 1871 in Halle).
