Franz Zinner

Franz Zinner (* 1903, † 1980 in Würzburg ) was a German weightlifter.

Career

Franz Zinner grew up in Würzburg and was a member of the TG Würzburg. As a boy he swam like and began as a teenager with weight lifting. In 1924 he became German champion in the middleweight division for the first time. Since Germany was in 1924 still excluded from participating in the Olympic Games and from 1925 to 1927 took place no international championships, he was able to measure only at the 1928 Olympics with the world elite. By 1930 he started then with good success in national and international competitions. His special discipline was the beidarmige tearing, in the he set several world records.
