Franziska Brantner

Franziska Katharina Brantner ( born August 24, 1979 in Lörrach ) is a German political scientist and politician ( Alliance 90/The Greens ). It belongs to the 18th German Bundestag.

Life

Brantner grew up in Neuenburg am Rhein and graduated at the German - French Grammar School in Freiburg im Breisgau her high school diploma. After high school she spent a year in the offices of the Heinrich Böll Foundation in Tel Aviv and then in Washington DC active. She studied political science with a focus on International Relations and European Politics at the elite university Sciences Po in Paris and at Columbia University 's School of Public and International Affairs ( SIPA ) in New York with master and diploma in 2004. 2010, she was at the University of Mannheim with a work on the ability to reform political institutions doctorate at the example of the United Nations. Meanwhile, she worked as a research assistant at the Department of Political Science II by Thomas King and received a teaching assignment for International Policy. Brantner is also trained according to the guidelines of the Association of mediation mediator. She speaks fluent French, English and Spanish and is able to communicate in Hebrew.

Brantner had a relationship with the mayor of Tübingen Boris Palmer, with whom she has a daughter born in May 2010. She lives in Heidelberg.

Policy

Brantner occurred in 1996 with 17 years of Young Greens, was a member of the Baden- württembergischem State Executive Committee (1996-1997) and Federal Executive ( 1997-1999). During her studies at Sciences Po in Paris, she founded a green university group and was there 2001/2002 co-organizer of the first " European Student Convention ".

She was a member of the Peace and Security Commission of the Federal Party and was a member of the writing staff for the electoral program of the party for the European elections in 2009.

In the European elections 2009, she ran to 11th place by the Federal list of Alliance 90/The Greens as the common candidate of the Green Party of the Rhine -Neckar and thus won a total of 14 reached by the German Greens seats in the European Parliament. She was a member of the Group of the Greens / EFA and was spokeswoman for foreign affairs of the Group and standing rapporteur for the EU Stability Instrument for Conflict Resolution and Crisis Response. In addition, it has led the negotiations on the establishment and reform of the European External Action Service for the Greens / EFA. She was a permanent member and Green Coordinator of the Committee for Foreign Affairs and Deputy Member of the Subcommittee on Security and Defence, the Women's Rights and Gender Equality Committee and the Budget Committee.
