Franziska Ellmenreich

Franziska Ellmenreich ( born January 28, 1847 in Schwerin, † 20 October 1931 in Herrsching am Ammersee ) was a German actress.

Origin and family

Ellmenreich came from a famous family of actors. Her great-grandfather was the singer Christian Brandl († 1795). Her grandfather was the actor Johann Baptist Ellmenreich (1770-1816), her grandmother, the actress Friederike Ellmenreich born Brandl. Her father was the singer, composer and theater director Albert Ellmenreich ( 1816-1905 ).

She married the playwright Richard Freiherr von Fuchs -Nordhoff (1855-1897), with whom she had the son Felix Freiherr von Fuchs -Nordhoff (1881-1945), who was a painter. Her daughter was the painter Irene Marie Lührsen (1883-1968), became known as Irene Fuchs -Nordhoff. Her grandson was the painter and stage designer Florence Freiherr von Fuchs -Nordhoff ( born in 1914 ).

Life

Ellmenreich made ​​her debut in 1862 in Meiningen. After stopovers in Mainz and Kassel 1865-1875 she was active in Hanover. 1869 she gave at the Burgtheater in Vienna a guest. This was followed by, among other engagements in Leipzig, Hamburg, Dresden and in Munich in 1880 performances in America and in London in 1883. After stopover at the Berlin Court Theatre she was engaged from 1887 to 1892 at the Hamburg Stadttheater. This was followed in 1893 and 1894 Vienna Hamburg. From 1899 to 1901 she appeared at the Berlin Court Theatre.

1901 Ellmenreich was co-founder of the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg. Acting-wise, she was active there from 1901 until 1912. Subsequently, she was appointed an honorary member. 1915 was Ellmenreich their farewell performance at the Berlin Court Theatre.

Importance

Ellmenreich is considered the last Heroine of the German theater ( Gisela Schwanenbeck ).

Honors

A street is named since 1948 in Hamburg to her. The road is located in the Mitte district, in the district of St. Georg at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg.
