Freculf

Frechulf, of about 820-850 Bishop of Lisieux in Normandy, a faithful follower of Louis the Pious, wrote at the request of the Registrar Helisachar, which he calls his teacher, a work on the old story, which he a second book of Christ's birth to added to the downfall of the Roman Empire. This he dedicated to 830 of the Empress Judith, to use it in teaching her son Charles. Made with skill and for the time period of great erudition, this story shows us the level of education, which was achieved in the Carolingian period. Also strange is that here, unlike simply viewed from the other view in the Middle Ages, the Roman Empire as passed and no artificial propagation is attempted to the Carolingian Empire.
