Fred Ewing Lewis

Fred Ewing Lewis ( born February 8, 1865 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, † June 27, 1949 ) was an American politician.

Lewis attended the Collegiate and Commercial Institute in New Haven, Connecticut, and the Muhlenberg College in Allentown. After studying law he was admitted to the legal profession in 1888 and practiced in Allentown. 1896 and again in 1902 he was mayor of the city.

Lewis was elected as a Republican to the 63rd Congress and represented there in the U.S. House of Representatives of the State of Pennsylvania on 4 March 1913 to 3 March 1915. Afterwards he went back to his former profession and was also held in the banking industry operates. 1932 to 1936 he was again held the office of the mayor of Allentown. Lewis died in 1949 in his hometown and was buried in the Union - West End Cemetery.
