Fred J. Eckert

Fred J. Eckert ( born May 6, 1941 in Rochester, New York ) was an American politician. Between 1985 and 1987 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

In 1964, Fred Eckert graduated from North Texas State University in Denton. He then studied at New York University in New York City and then at the city's New School for Social Research. Between 1973 and 1984 he was president of the Rochester -based advertising agency Eckert Hogan Newell, Inc. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Republican Party launched a political career. Between 1970 and 1972 he was mayor (supervisor ) of the municipality of Greece; 1972 to 1982 he was a member of the Senate from New York. From 1982 to 1984 he was United States Ambassador to Fiji with responsibility for Tonga, Tuvalu and Kiribati.

In the congressional elections of 1984, Eckert was in the 30th electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Barber B. Conable on January 3, 1895. Since he has not been confirmed in 1986, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until January 3, 1987.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Fred Eckert was in the years 1987 and 1988, American ambassador to the Commission for Food and Agriculture of the United Nations. Today he is president of Eckert Associates.
