Fred Jüssi

Fred Jüssi ( born January 29, 1935 on Aruba) is an Estonian zoologist, nature photographer and environmental journalist.

Early years

Fred Jüssi was born in the former Dutch West India. 1938 parents moved back to Estonia. 1953 put the son in Tallinn from the High School. Fred Jüssi graduated in 1958 his studies in biology and zoology at the University of Tartu. From 1958 to 1960 he was a biology teacher at a school in Emmaste on the island of Hiiumaa. After that, he was a laboratory technician for Experimental Biology at the Estonian Academy of Sciences.

From 1962 to 1975 Jüssi worked as an advisor and inspector for Nature Conservation, Ministry of Forestry and Nature Conservation of the Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic. From 1976 to 1989 he worked as a freelance employee of the state radio station Eesti Raadio and nature magazine Eesti Loodus. Particularly well-known and popular was his mission ABC's of Nature (1879-1986), in which he described the flora and fauna of Estonia and the world closer brought to a wide audience.
