Fred Wacker

Fred Wacker (* July 10, 1918 in Chicago, † 16 July 1998 in Lake Bluff ) was an American race car driver.

Fred Wacker was a regular starter in the U.S. SCCA series, when he and Briggs Cunningham came to Le Mans in 1951. Together with George Rand he drove a Cunningham C2 -R. However, the two fell after only 98 laps after an accident.

1952 Wacker was the trigger of a fatal accident at Watkins Glen. On the old road course he came in the second round by a carelessness from the track and crashed into the crowd. One child was killed and the road race on the old route of Watkins Glen found that you end.

1953 Wacker pilot plant was at Gordini and gave the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa- Francorchamps, his debut in the drivers' world championship. His first Formula 1 Grand Prix drove the Americans in Switzerland in 1954 (1953 was the race for the World Cup with Formula 2 vehicles discharged ). Three times he was at World Championship races at the start, but could not score points.

After two years in Europe Wacker went back to the U.S., where it was car racing until the mid- 1960s.
