Freddy Kempf

Freddy Kempf ( born 1977 in London ) is an English pianist. He comes from a German father and a Japanese mother from and currently lives near Munich.

He plays exclusively for the Swedish label BIS Records, which began its interpretations of pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven, Frédéric Chopin, Franz Liszt, Sergei Rachmaninov and Robert Schumann and published on CDs.

Kempf was by internationally known that he was not the first, but only took the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow in third place in 1998. This drew protests from the public and then in the Russian press out where he was referred to as " the hero of the competition".

He was voted " Best Young British Classical Performer ' at the ' Classical Brit Awards" ( comparable to the Brit Awards, but for classical) elected in 2001.

In March 2006, his first Bach CD was released.
