Frédéric Albert Constantin Weber

Frédéric Albert Constantin Weber ( born May 17, 1830 in Wolfisheim; † July 27, 1903 in Paris) was a French physician and botanist. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " FACWeber ".

Life and work

Weber received his doctorate in medicine at the University of Strasbourg in 1852 with his work on brain bleeding De l' hemorrhage of cerebral Méninges. He took part in a French military expedition to Mexico from 1864 to 1867 as a military surgeon. After his return, he described a variety of cacti and agaves. The largest part of his work was not published until after his death.

Nathaniel Lord Britton and Joseph Nelson Rose named in his honor the genus Weberocereus plant the cactus family ( Cactaceae ).
