Frédéric Chaslin

Frédéric Chaslin (* 1963 in Paris ) is a French conductor and composer. He's since October 2010, Chief Conductor of the Santa Fe Opera (USA) and since September 2011 Music Director of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra.

Chaslin received his education at the Conservatoire de Paris, and the Salzburg Mozarteum. In 1989, he began his career as an assistant to Daniel Barenboim in Paris and at the Bayreuth Festival. In 1991 he became assistant Intercontemporain by Pierre Boulez at the Ensemble. His international debut as a conductor was Chaslin 1993 at the Bregenz Festival. He spent three years as Music Director of the Opéra de Rouen. From 1999 to 2002 he was chief conductor of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, and from 2004 to 2006 General Music Director of the National Theatre of Mannheim.
