Frédéric Daerden

Frédéric Daerden ( born January 11, 1970 in Montegnée ) is a Belgian politician ( Parti Socialiste ).

The son of Michel Daerden made ​​the university degree in commercial and financial sciences at the Graduate School of Liege and then in the field of business administration at the University of Liège. He was then working as an auditor and a lecturer at the University of Liège, before he was admitted as a chartered accountant in the health insurance sector and as an auditor in the insurance sector.

Daerden 2003 was Deputy Chairman of the Association of Liege PS and two years later became a member of the board. In 2000 he became head of the department of the city of Herstal, in 2006 he became mayor. He was from 1999 to 2009 Member of the Parliament of the Walloon Region and the Parliament of the French Community, in the latter he was from 2004 Chairman of the Committee on Higher Education and Research. Since 2009 he is a member of the European Parliament.

Daerden is a member of the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists & Democrats in the European Parliament.
