Frederic Mishkin

Frederic Stanley "Rick" Mishkin ( born January 11, 1951 in New York City ) is an American economist and since 1983 professor at Columbia Business School. From 2006 to 2008 he was a board member of the Federal Reserve System.

His father Sidney Mishkin (1913-1991) founded the Sidney Mishkin Gallery at Baruch College of the City University of New York.

Fred Mishkin attended the Fieldston School and then studied economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he in 1973 as BS and 1976 as a Ph.D. completed. 1999 awarded him the Chinese People's University in Haidian an honorary doctorate.

2006 belonged Mishkin to the authors of a report entitled " Financial Stability in Iceland ". The client was the Icelandic Chamber of Commerce. Mishkin conceded there 124,000 U.S. $. The documentary " Inside Job " sparked controversy about this report.

With his wife, Sally, he has two children.
