Haidian District
Haidian (Chinese海淀 区, pinyin Hǎidiàn qū ) is a district of the Chinese capital Beijing.
Haidian is located northwest of the city center and has an area of 431 km ². The municipality has about 1.81 million registered inhabitants, the number of permanent residents in the district people will, however, estimated at approximately 3 million. It is thus the most populous municipality in Beijing.
In Haidian there are numerous universities, including the two most prestigious universities in Beijing, the Peking University and Tsinghua University.
The district is also home to the Beijing 's "Silicon Valley " Zhongguancun. Important high-tech companies and many electronics shopping centers dominate the streets of the Zhongguancun Dajie and the adjacent streets.
Due to the many students and foreign companies the ethnic diversity is much higher than in most other parts of the city. Also, the per capita income is very high by Chinese standards, and in 2008 was 18,479 CNY, about 2,000 €.
Administrative Divisions
At the community level, Haidian sets of 22 road districts, two field offices and five large communities together. These are:

- Dongsheng field office (东升 地区) corresponds to the municipality Dongsheng (东升 乡);
- Field office Wanliu (万柳 地区) corresponds to the municipality Haidian (海淀 乡), seat of city district government;

- Greater community Sijiqing (四季青 镇);
- Greater community Sujiatuo (苏 家坨 镇);
- Greater community Wenquan (温泉 镇);
- Greater community Xibeiwang (西北旺 镇).
