Zizhuyuan Subdistrict

Zizhuyuan (Chinese紫竹院 街道, Pinyin Zǐzhúyuàn Jiedao ) is a road part of the city Haidian District Beijing, China. Zizhuyuan located in the southwest Haidians. It has an area of 6.23 km ² and around 158,000 inhabitants ( end of 2009). Originally called the road district Landianchang (蓝靛厂 街道) was founded in November 1959. In September 1978, it got its present name.

In the administrative area of the road district, there are seven major universities, including the Central Nationalities University (中央 民族 大学), the Technical University of Beijing (北京 理工 大学), the Beijing Foreign Studies University (北京 外国语 大学), the Dance Academy Beijing (北京 舞蹈 学院), the School of International Relations (国际 关系 学院) as well as the National Library of China (中国 国家 图书馆).
