Frederick Fennell

Frederick Fennell ( born July 2, 1914 in Cleveland, Ohio, USA, † December 7, 2004 in Siesta Key, Florida) was an internationally recognized conductor, composer and music teacher. He is considered the founder of modern symphonic brass music.

Fennel was musical director of the Eastman Wind Ensemble and the Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra. He took over 300 compositions on 29 music albums for Mercury Records. The modern form of the symphonic wind band (wind ensemble) is much due to his influence.
