Frederick I, Duke of Württemberg

Frederick I (* August 19 1557 in Montbéliard, † January 29, 1608 in Stuttgart) was Count of Montbéliard ( 1558-1608 ) and Duke of Württemberg ( 1593-1608 ).

Life

Frederick was the son of Count Georg I of Württemberg - Montbéliard (1498-1558) and Barbara of Hesse ( 1536-1597 ). He held in his youth at the Württemberg court in Stuttgart, where Duke Christoph cared even to his upbringing. 1571-1574 he was trained in the later Collegium Illustre in Tübingen and attended besides various German courts Denmark, Hungary, Austria, France, Italy and England.
