Free Arabian Legion

The Legion Free Arabia (Arabic جيش بلاد العرب الحرة ) was a legion of volunteers from the Middle East, Islamic parts of North Africa and Southern Europe, which fought for the Wehrmacht.

Especially in the Balkans Muslim men were drafted from 1943. Some deserted later.

Until April 19, 1943, more than 20,000 majority Muslim volunteers reported for duty for the German Reich.

The majority of Arab nationals were Islamic faith, but there were also numerous among the Arab nationalists Arab Greek Orthodox faith.

The Grand Mufti Haj Amin al -Husseini assisted the Legion Free Islamic Arabia by enlisting volunteers.
