Freestyle swimming

In freestyle swimming the swimmer may swim any style swimming. Here, the swimming style may also be changed during a route.

The competition rules of the Fédération Internationale de Natation (FINA ) mean that doing a body part of the swimmer must break the surface of the water throughout the competition. It is the float, however, allowed during the turn, and to be completely submerged for a distance of 15 meters after the start and after each turn, at least at this point the head must have but pierced the water. At the turning point and the destination stop the swimmer must touch the pool wall with any body part.

Since the Front Crawl is the fastest swimming stroke, the crawl is in freestyle swimming is practically always swum. When Medley and Medley relays may be swum except breaststroke, butterfly or backstroke swimming in freestyle swimming stroke each part.

In a freestyle relay swimmer occur several (usually four) behind each other. At international competitions on the long course (50 m) will be swum 4 × 100 m and 4 × 200 m freestyle relays in short track competitions, the 4 × 50 m relay.
