Frégate Island

Fregate, sometimes called Frigate, is an island in the Indian Ocean and is one of the granitic " inner islands " in the Seychelles. The island is 55 km east of Mahé, the main island of the Seychelles.

The French explorer Lazare Picault gave the island the name Frigate after living there frigate (English Frigate birds ). The tropically vegetated island has an area of 2.19 km ². The highest point on the island, Mount Signal, has a height of 125 m. On the island there are 16 villas that are widely used by tourists. The island is owned by the German industrialist Otto Happel.

Fregate has seven designated beaches:

Flora and Fauna

The island is covered with trees of Calophyllum inophyllum kind, Cashew ( Cashew ) and Indian almond trees. On Fregate among other Aldabra giant tortoises and the high-risk, extremely rare Magpie live. The construction work for the construction of the hotel facilities were fully monitored by conservationists to ensure that the stock of Seychellendajalen is not damaged.
