Freibach

The free stream is the 6.5 mile main source of the stream Ilm in the Thuringian Forest.

Course

It rises between the Great Finsterberg and snow head west of Stuetzerbach. The southern arm is fed from the boiler fountain near the murder spot meadow at the Rennsteig in just over 800 meters. The northern, also known as Sperber Bach Quellarm springs directly on the decorations in about 950 meters. After nearly two kilometers, the source arms unite in 673 meters and then flow past the east along the Great Spanntal, Great Melmtal, little Melmtal and silver base direction Stuetzerbach. The lower part of the possible Freibachtals is called free Bachgrund. Here the stream flows around the little Rödel to then unite in about 580 meters with the Taubach and Lengwitz to Ilm.
