Free stream is a municipality in the district courts of the canton of Schwyz in Switzerland. The capital and by far the largest district of the municipality Freisbach connection therewith SZ.

Located on Lake Zurich community consists of five villages: Pfäffikon, free stream, Wollerau, Baech SZ and Hurden.

Free Bach 's terms of population, the largest community in the canton of Schwyz. Coat of arms

The current coat of arms was adopted in 1948 after decades of struggles by the courtiers Corporation, showing three to the right border golden lions on a red field. The symbolism is closely related to the historical connection of the duchy of Swabia, which carried the three superimposed striding lion since the 13th century on shield and flags. The reference to the Duchy arises from Ufnau Island Holy Adelrich, whose mother Reginlinde and a later abbot, who is said to have also belonged to the Duke of Swabia Bad tightness.

Towns

Pfäffikon

The small town of Pfäffikon (416 m above sea level. M. ) is located east of brook free at the foot of the Etzel. With over 7000 inhabitants Pfäffikon is the largest town in the municipality and their capital.

Wollerau

The village Wilen ( 492 m above sea level. M. ) is located southwest of free stream and a home to approximately 3,700 people.

Freisbach

The village Freisbach (418 m above sea level. M. ) is located west of Pfäffikon. 2,900 people live in free stream. The parish church is dedicated to the local saint Adalrich.

Baech SZ

The village Baech (410 m above sea level. M. ) is located west of Freisbach and has 1,500 inhabitants.

The hamlet Hurden (408 m. Above sea level. M. ) is located north of Pfäffikon. He is with only 300 inhabitants, the smallest part of the community.

History

First historical mention: Islands Ufnau and Lützelau 741 in a document of the monastery of St. Gall. The villages Freisbach, Pfäffikon and Baech 965, or 972 in the deeds of gift of the Emperor Otto I and Otto II to the monastery of Einsiedeln.

Parish council

The council is the executive body of the municipality Freisbach. It consists of nine members, which is elected every two or four years. The seat of government is located in the Town Hall Castle and village in Pfäffikon.
