Freight Rover

Freight Rover was a British truck manufacturer from Birmingham.

The company was founded in 1981 as an independent brand of Austin Rover Group for vans. The name was chosen in analogy to the Land Rover and Range Rover. In 1987, the bus division was spun off and sold to Volvo in 1988.

The Rover Group founded with DAF Leyland DAF and Leyland Trucks and Freight Rover brought into the company. DAF owned 60 percent and the Rover Group, 40 percent of the shares in Leyland DAF.
