Leyland DAF

Leyland DAF was a commercial vehicle manufacturers in the UK and a division of DAF ( Automobile) NV.

History

The company was founded in 1987, after the British government privatized the Austin Rover Group. The bus division was ( Leyland bus ), outsourced by Leyland in 1986 and 1988 sold to Volvo. The passenger car segment with Land Rover became the Rover Group. Leyland Trucks and Freight Rover have now been merged with DAF DAF NV.

The new company, DAF NV was jointly developed by DAF Beheer BV ( 60%) and the Rover Group held (40 %). It presented its products as Leyland DAF in the UK and Ireland, otherwise known as DAF.
