History

With the work on the Loreley open air stage of the Turner - labor service in 1932 had begun. The stage was originally designed for the Rhine -Main- ring game, but was recognized in this construction project in the following year by the Nazis and rededicated to the " Nazi party establishment" and " Thingstätte ". The Frankfurt architect Hermann mustard was awarded the contract for this building. And as of April 30, 1934 during a ceremony, accompanied by two bands of the Labor Service and chants of Gauleiter Sprenger of the ground-breaking ceremony was performed in the evening. The construction work lasted until 1939 and were carried out by members of the Labor Service.

The crowd round the outdoor stage was 4300 seats and standing room for 8,000 to 10,000. Right and left of the entrance stood a statue of a " labor 's" and an eagle. The hull with the claws and wings and the neck of the eagle are now on the site of Turner 's and youth home. From the lost head a rumor that he had been taken by the French soldiers to France goes. Since 1976, also rock and pop concerts are held on the Loreley open air stage. The first rock concert announced on July 3, 1976 Genesis. There were many well-known artists, including BAP, Joe Cocker, Die Toten Hosen, Böhse Onkelz, Herbert Grönemeyer, Peter Maffay, Marillion, Metallica, Gary Moore, Chris Rea, Frankie Miller, Eric Burdon, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Rory Gallagher, Udo Jürgens Red Hot Chili Peppers, Carlos Santana, Simple Minds, Sting, The Sisters of Mercy, UB40, REM, The Kelly Family, U2, Journey, Toto and Whitesnake. Since 2010, the open-air stage of the Loreley Venue Management GmbH is operated, this together with the city of St. Goar and the state of Rhineland Palatinate toughen the venue in the coming years. It will take place events from different cultural areas.
