Odontobutis obscura

The Tooth- Schläfergrundeln ( Odontobutidae ) live in freshwater in northern Vietnam, China, Korea, Japan and the Far East Siberia. Some of them also go in the brackish water of river mouths. The family was expected earlier to the Schläfergrundeln ( Eleotridae ).

To distinguish it from other families of Grundelartigen ( Gobioidei ) among others, the following features are called: The shoulder blade is large, the animals have six gill arches Reuse (as in Schläfergrundeln and Xenisthmidae ), a lateral line is missing. Tooth Schläfergrundeln be 6 to 24 inches long.

The fish live floor oriented, feed carnivorous and are substrate spawners. The nest is guarded by the male.
