Friederich Franzl

Friedrich Franzl (* March 6, 1905, † 1989) was an Austrian football player at the position of the keeper. He was from 1927 to 1929 regular players of the Austrian national team. With his club Admira he could be at this time twice champion.

Career

Franzl began his career in 1923 in Jedlesee at the Admiralty. He was quickly goalkeeper of the Black White and was appointed in 1926 by Hugo Meisl in the Austrian national team. He made his debut in a 7-1 win over Switzerland. The following season he was with the Admiralty celebrate the first championship win of their history and establish itself as goalkeeper of the national team. With the team he lost only once against Czechoslovakia - which are compared with ten wins and four draws. Still, he was increasingly replaced in 1930 by Rudi Hiden from the Austrian goal.

The Admira Franzl achieved the feat of becoming subject to the double in 1928 during three consecutive years runner-up. After the 1931 season the goalie left Jedlesse and went to Dornbach for Wiener Sport - Club. With the WSC Franzl could no longer play for the championship. He was still drafted into the squad for the FIFA World Cup 1934, in which he, however, was not used. To the End of career saw the goalie with the achievement of the Austrian Cupfinales a nice success in Dornbach.
